Material support
A WPC deck is a system, not a board-only purchase. The selected board profile, support joists, starter and hidden fasteners, movement details, edge finish, drainage and ventilation must work together. This guide explains the review sequence without inventing universal spacing values or treating one manufacturer's accessory as compatible with another profile.
Read the system from the surface down
The diagram below is a generic system map, not a construction drawing. The selected profile instructions, project loads, substrate, climate and local code control final dimensions and fastener selection.

Hidden clip logic
A hidden clip should seat in the grooves of the two adjacent boards and be fixed into the supporting joist using the screw specified for that clip/joist combination. Clip wing geometry, screw material and groove dimensions are compatibility-controlled components. Confirm the accessory schedule against the exact board profile before quotation and again before installation.
Six review gates before installation
- Verify the exact profile. Match the quotation, cross-section drawing, samples and test evidence to one product code and revision.
- Confirm the substrate and support. Record slab, pedestal, framing or other substrate conditions; define drainage, level and fixing responsibility.
- Approve joists and accessories. List the joist, starter clip, hidden clip, screw, fascia/trim and any locking/control accessory by code and quantity.
- Set project-specific movement and support details. Use the current manufacturer instructions, structural/project requirements and local code.
- Build and approve a representative trial area. Check colour mix, surface direction, gaps, edge detail, drainage and access before full installation.
- Record the installed system. Keep product labels, batch references, accessory schedule, approved drawings and maintenance information.
Quotation and take-off checklist
Send the following information so the board and accessories can be quoted as one auditable system:
- Project country, city/postal code and site type;
- Deck plan, dimensions, total area and perimeter lengths;
- Expected use, loads and exposure conditions;
- Preferred board profile, colour and surface;
- Substrate, finished height, drainage and ventilation constraints;
- Proposed laying direction, board lengths, joints, steps and edge conditions;
- Required joists, starter clips, hidden clips, screws, fascia/trim and spare materials;
- Required standards, test reports, samples and submittal documents;
- Required delivery date and destination access/unloading conditions.
Supplier-confirmed fields stay pending
Board dimensions, profile mass, joist spacing, gaps, fastener model, accessory consumption, package quantity, package weight/volume, MOQ, current availability and lead time are supplier- and profile-specific. If these facts are not supported by the selected product record, the quotation must show them as pending confirmation rather than copying a value from another factory or product.
